Reaching young people in the public education system As part of our firm’s commitment to ‘breaking cycles of disadvantage’ – particularly for young people – we work with students in the public education system to help them reach their full potential. In Hong Kong, for example, we have worked closely with the Fresh Fish Traders’ School to provide teaching assistance, book donations and financial support to students. Our Australian school partnerships, dating back to 2003, are with:
• Brisbane: Glenala State High School (Inala)
• Melbourne: John Fawkner College (Fawkner) & Upper Yarra Secondary College (Yarra Junction)
• Perth: Warnbro Community High School
• Sydney: James Meehan High School (Macquarie Fields)
At each these schools we have undertaken student mentoring programs, arranged work experience opportunities for students and organised school visits for students to our city offices. Minter Ellison is also a foundation member of the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN) and Building Better Schools through Business Partnerships in New Zealand. Through these involvements, we are helping to deliver mentoring and support programs to schools in Auckland, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.
