John Fawkner College is an International learning community. Our community has over 40 nationalities and more than 50 languages are represented. Renowned for its student success, the college learning program is designed to support individuals and develop the whole person.
John Fawkner College has been a provider of education for International students for many years, and is beginning to establish many links with Asian countries. As our International Student Program increases in size we are now welcoming students in years 10-12 from a variety of countries and areas including China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan and Indonesia.
We ensure that each student feels supported and confident in Australia as well as monitoring each student’s visa status, attendance and academic progress at JFC.
Upon request, we will organise homestay for students in a local family. We ensure that each student is comfortable in the new environment so that his or her stay at JFC is a happy one.
EAL teachers develop strategies which make learning in the regular classroom easier for our international students, who are generally highly motivated. Many have achieved excellent results and are now studying in universities of their first choice.
The International Student Program at JFC provides the following services:
- Overseas Co-ordinator.
- Co-ordination of airport reception.
- Arrangement of home stay.
- Orientation program for new arrivals.
- Welfare Co-ordinator.
- Careers Co-ordinator.
- Liaising with Department of Education and Training and homestay family or guardian.
